Request a market: how to ask and what gets listed

Markets on HIT are created by the HIT team. This is where you tell us what to list. The team reads the requests posted here.

One request per topic

Title it as the question you want to trade. “Will the ECB cut rates at the October meeting?” not “rates market please”.

In the post, give:

  1. The question, phrased so it has exactly one answer by a known date.
  2. The resolution source. Where will the answer be published, and when? An official page beats a news report.
  3. The deadline, with a timezone.
  4. Why people would trade it. A link to the debate, the odds elsewhere, the news cycle. Demand is what gets a market listed.

What gets listed

  • Clear questions with a public, authoritative source.
  • Events with real disagreement. A question everyone agrees on has no market.
  • Enough time before the deadline for a book to form.

What does not

  • Questions about private individuals, or anything that would reward harm.
  • Questions whose answer is already known or effectively certain.
  • Questions with no reliable source, or a source that could be influenced by the people trading.
  • Duplicates of a market already live. Search hit.com/markets first.

After you post

Like the requests you want to trade. When a request becomes a market, the team replies with the link.

Market rules are written by HIT, not copied from the request, so the final wording may differ. Read the description before you trade it.
